    Sometimes tradition is a good thing. Mark Maurer is living proof. As the son of insurance industry veterans Keith and Judith Maurer (who founded LLIS in 1998), Mark joined LLIS in 2003, became president in 2008, and added CEO to his title in January 2014. You could say LLIS is layered with experienced Maurers. Mark is a CFP(R) and an MBA and has an impressive combination of education and mentoring, growing up under the tutelage of insurance experts.     Jason Howell is President of Jason Howell Company (JHCo.), a fiduciary wealth management firm for politicos or people who run for political office. He is also an adjunct professor of personal finance at American University’s Kogod School of Business. As a former United States Congressional candidate and has been featured as both an independent political strategist and an established financial expert on the local ABC affiliate. She also started the financial education non-profit, Common Cents Financial Literacy, Inc. to help high school and college students have a good head start on personal finances. After leaving the financial services industry in 2013, she realized financial planning really was her calling and built a better business model to serve her clients with help from XYPN. With no regrets, she's still learning and growing, and happy to moderate the panel on "How to Survive the First Year."

She’s as passionate about the XYPN message as she is about innovating new ways to share it. Before joining XYPN, Jen accumulated several years of experience representing national brands in diverse sectors including technology, gaming, TV, and education. She’s based in Minnesota, but travels frequently to warm up.

    Stephen Alred first joined XYPN as a member. After working with the team on smaller projects, he was hooked. He now serves as the Director of Advisor Success. He’s worked with multiple companies inside and outside of the financial services industry, specifically in helping them design their marketing and technology strategies. When he’s not working, you can find Stephen in Atlanta, GA attending a startup event, reading a book at a random coffee shop, or diving into new experiences with his wife Erin.

    Arlene Moss gets a kick out of helping financial advisors get over being overwhelmed and take on their frustrations so their businesses soar. Arlene works to ensure XYPN members are able to help their clients prosper while creating a sustainable business model. Through XYPN Academy and , one-on-one coaching you will get the support you need to grow your business and overcome the challenges that come your way. When not motivating clients, and cooking up new ideas to help XYPN member success, you can find Arlene on her road bike, or trying to master the art of tandem cycling without destroying her marriage. In the winter months, she gets to the ski slopes as much as possible, hunting hidden bits of fresh powder amid the trees of Breckenridge.

    Scott Gill is a licensed Securities Principal with experience in both RIA and broker-dealer compliance. He began his financial services career in 2006 as a Registered Representative with E*Trade Financial in Alpharetta, GA. He has also worked with J.P. Morgan Private Banking in Chicago, IL and with Wells Fargo Advisors in Chapel Hill, NC. Scott’s most recent role before joining Team XYPN was as Compliance Officer of Carolinas Investment Consulting, in Charlotte NC. He’s a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds FINRA Series 63, 65, 24, 4 and 53 Licenses. Scott lives in Charlotte NC with his wife Meredith, and their two Sons Tyson and Jackson. In his free time, Scott enjoys watching sports, exercising, and operating the charitable organization he created upon his father’s passing.

    Sara Stanich, CFP®, CDFA™ is founder of The Stanich Group, a fee-only registered investment adviser in New York City. Her firm provides financial planning advice and investment management to corporate executives, as well as consulting services regarding the financial issues of divorce. Sara has 10 years of experience working in the financial industry, which followed 12 years in marketing roles and an MBA from New York University.     Kenneth Klabunde, MS, CFP(R), is the founding principal and chief investment officer of Precedent Asset Management and has been serving clients with coordinated financial planning and investment management for over 20 years. Kenneth launched Precedent AM in 2013 and began building the systems and processes to insource portfolio management within a financial planning-focused firm and to make the delivery of these services turnkey for clients. He is frequently called on to assist firms in designing their own customized portfolio management processes and integrating financial planning and investment management services.

    Carolyn McRae is a professional marketer with more than five years experience helping small businesses reach their growth goals. Her approach to marketing is both creative and analytical; helping people achieve a creative flow that’s unique and exciting, while using tracking and metrics to learn what actually works for their business. Today she’s a full-time marketer based in Boston, feeling honored and excited to step into the XY Planning Network as a Marketing Coach.     His father was a hippie, so naturally JD Bruce became a CPA. Being a hippie criminal defense attorney, his father fought ‘the man’ and defended the wrongly accused. He was a defender of the constitution and an enthusiastic revolutionary. He also didn’t like following rules, like the tax code. When he was eighteen, studying theater at the local community college, his father had an unfortunate misunderstanding with the IRS. The family ended up losing their 4,000 square foot house by the beach and moving to a much smaller home where privacy was hard to find and secrets were difficult to keep. That’s when Bruce started to see through the cracks and learned about how your relationship to money can hurt you.

    Melissa Ellis made a career change to personal financial planning in October 2008, just in time for the bumpy ride the Market took that year. Melissa enjoys working with people and helping them achieve their financial goals. "It's my goal to help my clients live well by helping them develop financial independence. I do this by building a personalized financial plan for each client to help them achieve their goals. It's very rewarding to know that you are helping your clients to be able to sleep better at night because they have their finances in order." Melissa is a Certified Financial Planner and earned her M.S. Personal Financial Planning from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Melissa is a member of the Greater Kansas City chapter of the Financial Planning Association and joined the XY Planning Network in September 2016. When Melissa is not working, she enjoys traveling with her husband, Doug. Melissa has traveled to all 50 states, throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

    Cary Cates, MBA, CFP®, EA, is the owner of Cates Tax Advisory and an adjunct professor of finance at the University of North Texas. He lives in Denton, TX, with his wife of 13 years and two young daughters. Cates Tax Advisory specializes in providing tax planning and advice so clients can keep their hard-earned money out of Uncle Sam's coffers.
  3. Tim Hale
    Tim Hale is the founder and owner of Hale Financial Solutions, a financial planning firm focused on helping busy, working families grow their wealth by making smart financial decisions, specifically with their 401(k)s. He recently moved his family to their dream home of Star Valley, Wyoming, where he works remotely helping families across the country. Tim earned his MBA from the University of Utah and undergrad from BYU-Idaho. He dares you to test him on his Seinfeld trivia.
  4. Justin Waller
    After being recruited by a nationally known financial planning firm in early 2000, Justin Waller was promoted to training manager before the end of the year. He obtained his Certified Financial Planner designation in the spring of 2003. After spending several years in a fee-based structure, he became a fee-only planner in 2009. He started his own firm in late 2014 to provide more independence and flexibility so that he could better serve his clients. He purchased two partial practices and attempted to buy into an existing practice.

    Brad Bond has been providing financial planning and investment advice for 20 years, and was previously an engineer. He works in-person and virtually with individuals and families at various life and career stages. He also works with people who are managing the financial issues of transitioning from one career to another, who have inherited money, or are recently widowed.     Sanjay Jain MD MBA is an accomplished doctor and bestselling author who has always had a passion for financial well-being. As you may know, doctors traditionally have the reputation for being poor money managers and he supported that theory by some of this earlier financial misadventures. However, from lessons learned and through vigorous education via his MBA and series 65, Sanjay has sought out to help other physicians in distress as well as those who need some financial guidance. He just recently opened his RIA for this very purpose.     Courtney Ranstrom co-founded Trailhead Planners, LLC, with her brother, Morgan Ranstrom, in 2016. They focus on offering holistic financial planning and socially responsible investing. Prior to that, they were with a $130 million AUM RIA. Courtney is a Certified Financial Planner(R) and has an MBA from Willamette University. She spent the first four years of her career as an Internal Auditor for Oregon's Department of Human Services and a large regional bank in Oregon. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband, two-year-old daughter, and two Cardigan Corgis.

Worth chapter and subsequently has been implemented by other FPA chapters across the nation. 'Your Financial Mom' at Pathfinder Planning LLC provides personal financial planning advice and asset management for a simple fee to young adults and working families through group classes, one-on-one planning engagements, and ongoing advice.
  3. Carol Craigie
    Carol Craigie is a psychologist turned financial planner who has a long history in financial services. She served as Director of Financial Planning at Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase and Key Bank where she introduced and expanded financial planning services across their diverse segments. When she retired from institutions, she became a professor at the College for Financial Planning, writing textbooks and is considered an expert in both financial planning and behavioral economics. She founded Fitness Clubs of America to bring financial planning to the masses on a low cost, profitable model. Together with Catalina Franco-Cicero, her partner, they create programs that integrate how people make decisions, with knowledge and coaching to change behaviors and create a problem-solving mindset as a financial wellness program.

    Vid Ponnapalli is the founder and president of Unique Financial Advisors. He provides customized financial planning and investment management services for Generation X professionals. Vid believes today's financial planning need is under-served by traditional financial planning methods, mainly due to minimum income or net worth levels requirements. Vid's goal is to contribute and change this paradigm. So, after a 20+ years career in financial services industry, Vid launched Unique Financial Advisors in 2014. Vid and his wife, Maha live in Holmdel, New Jersey. Their three boys graduated out of college and are on their path to settling down in life. When Vid is not working on Financial Planning, he enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with family.

    Cady North is an entrepreneur and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. She comes from a family of small business owners and learned to balance a business checkbook at the age of 13. Now she uses her knowledge and experience to help new entrepreneurs succeed. She founded North Financial Advisors in 2015 after a career as an analyst in the financial services industry. Her company specializes in helping young professionals find personal financial freedom and become financially ready to start businesses. In her spare time, Cady provides free financial literacy talks to the public and her work has been featured in Bloomberg, the Washington Post, and Forbes. She has an M.B.A. from Georgetown University and B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

John is regularly invited to present to peers around the country and has been invited to advise top executives of two of the nation’s largest broker-dealers.
